Fwooshcast Special #20 – Harmony Gold

The Fwooshcast is a weekly podcast about Toys, Action Figures, Dolls, Brick-toys and all that plastic crack that we, your hosts, spend waaaay too much of our hard earned cash on.

This special episode Craig, Ben and Gene catch up and cover the very topical subject of…Harmony Gold

  1. Gentlemen,
It was a solid podcast with a lot of background, but you failed to mention a crucial element of this lawsuit:

Hasbro included a tech spec with the exact likeness of the VF-1 as Jetfire. The artwork that was on the 1985 box. This is a liket=ness they no longer have the rights to use. The toy is fine, as was the classics toy. This is the footing that Harmony Gold has to stand on. Like it or not, they have a legitimate complaint.

  2. Harmony gold is just trying to prove how unreasonable they are by suing Hasbro, not for the Skystriker toy, but for a picture of a toy (VF-1/ Jetfire) that’s included with it. So to make it more easy to understand: Because Harmony Gold got the intentional rights to Macross TV from Tatsunoko, Big West can’t license or sell Macross outside Japan (even if they’re the only ones that can make more Macross), because two companies can’t license or sell the same products. So Harmony Gold doesn’t sell and can’t make more Macross (even if Harmony Gold acts like Carl Macek made everything Robotech, and the people in Japan where nothing but cheap labor to be exploited), then what was the point of using Macross as Robotech? To sue everyone, and to keep Macross in licensing hell of course! All hail lord Shoji Kawamori! Long live Macross! Death to Harmony Gold! Robotech fans should kill themselves for the love of lord Shoji Kawamori!
